Frida Kahlo painted herself in her garden with monkeys & her love of animals and her garden are reflected in our bag with part mesh & cotton canvas base.
She had a deep connection with her parakeets and other animals, which she called her "animalitos". These pets were not just pets but also considered companions, friends, and a source of inspiration who frequently appeared in her paintings, most notably in the 1941 self-portrait Me and My Parrots (Yo y Mis Pericos). Her parakeets, like her pet parrot Benito, were a constant presence in her home and in her art, which she often described as a diary of her life.
Frida Kahlo's most famous monkey was named Fulang-Chang. She also had another spider monkey named Caimito de Guayabal.
